The Central Texas Public Safety Commission will honor Congressman Michael T. McCaul with the eighth Joe M. Kilgore Award for Public Service, Wednesday, November 6, 2013, 7:00 p.m., at the Four Seasons Hotel. Commissioner Edward F. Davis of the Boston Police Department will be our special guest and featured speaker.
Table sponsorships are available for $2,500. Tickets are $250 per person. Proceeds benefit the Central Texas Public Safety Commission’s crime prevention, public safety, and youth outreach programs.
The late Joe M. Kilgore was a founding director and executive committee member of the Central Texas Public Safety Commission. Following decorated Air Corps service in World War II, Kilgore served in the Texas House of Representatives (1947–54). He was then elected to the US House of Representatives, succeeding Lloyd Bentsen, and spent a decade representing the Rio Grande Valley’s 15th Congressional District before relocating to Austin and joining the law firm that later became McGinnis, Lochridge & Kilgore, L.L.P. A graduate of The University of Texas at Austin and its School of Law, Kilgore also served as a system regent (1967–73) and was honored as a distinguished alumnus (1982). Previous Kilgore Award recipients include Adm. Bobby R. Inman, USN (Ret), Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison, University of Texas President William Powers Jr., US Ambassador Antonio O. Garza Jr., and Senator John Cornyn.
